BSE Consulting Engineers are leaders in straw and earth building engineering design. We design single and multi-storey residential and commercial straw and earth buildings using full loadbearing and in-fill walls on all types of floor systems. Challenging designs are our passion. Our strength stems from our cross-disciplinary approach to straw and earth construction technologies incorporating industry best practices in Structural, Civil and Environmental Engineering and Building Surveying. Our core focus is to support our clients to achieve visionary sustainable construction solutions.

At BSE Consulting Engineers, we investigate the client’s site soil material and provide our professional recommendations regarding the most suitable earth or straw construction method.

During the design process, we conduct all site investigations and classifications. This informs the design parameters and allows us to incorporate efficiencies in design. This design process saves the client in material and construction cost and time.

Our design process uses the latest Building Information Modelling (BIM) software; Revit, AutoCAD Civil3D and AutoCAD. The building is designed as a 3D model and shared through a cloud system, allowing the design to be communicated to other building professionals, trades and stakeholders with ease.

We have extensive experience in writing Performance Based Design Briefs (formerly Alternative Solutions) to the Building Code of Australia. With formal qualifications in Building Surveying we guarantee that our documentation of your straw and earth design will meet and exceed the requirements of the consent authority.
