Site soil classification conducted in accordance with AS2870:2011 Residential slabs and footings. The application of the site classification method in this standard gives a site soil classification of A, S, M, H1, H2, or E, ranging from the least reactive soil to the most reactive. A suitable footing design can then be determined using the other provisions of AS2870:2011. The other possible site classification under this standard is P. Generally, site classified as P have soils or site conditions that are problematic, representing higher risk, requiring further engineering analysis to adequately design a footing system.
